Joshua Perry has played in the NFL for the past two seasons. In 2016 he played for the San Diego Chargers after being selected by them in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Joshua started the season as the third string right outside linebacker for the Chargers. By the end of the season, Joshua earned his first career NFL start on January 1st against the Kansas City Chiefs. In that game he recorded 6 tackles, and finished his rookie season with 22 tackles. Joshua then joined the Indianapolis Colts at the beginning of the 2017 season, after dealing with some injury issues to start the season.
Joshua played his college football at The Ohio State University. As a true freshman, Joshua played in 10 games and recorded 5 tackles. As a Junior, Joshua started 14 of the team’s 15 games, and led the team in tackles with 124. In his Junior season, Ohio State won the first ever College Football Playoff Championship after defeating Alabama in the semi-finals and then Oregon in the championship game. In that championship game, Joshua recorded 6 tackles helping the Buckeyes to a 42-20 victory. Joshua finished his career with 298 tackles and 7.5 sacks. He played in 52 career games, starting 39 of those. As a junior, Joshua was named to the 2nd team All-Big Ten team. As a senior, Joshua earned 1st team All-Big Ten honors along with a Honorable Mention All-American. Joshua graduated with a degree in consumer and family financial services.
Joshua grew up in Lewis Center, Ohio, which is just outside Columbus, Ohio. He attended Olentangy High School, where he developed into a 4 star recruit at the outside linebacker position. In high school, Joshua played both linebacker and running back, and was selected as a 2nd team All-Ohio football player his senior year. However, Joshua excelled at more than just football while in high school. He also played on the basketball team and track and field time while at Olentangy. In track and field, Joshua finished top 5 in the state twice in the long jump.
Outside of football, Joshua if very dedicated to giving back to his community. In March of 2018, Joshua launched the Joshua Perry Family Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to “Inspire our youth to recognize and utilize their God-given gifts to maximize their potential”. Joshua works with youth groups and individuals mostly where he lives and is from (Columbus and Olentangy area), and where he currently plays football. Joshua joined the Apex Sports’ team in April of 2018. Joshua brings to our team a great amount of knowledge and experience about the linebacker position.
